Things to know about Girnar Ropeway:
Ropeway service connecting Girnar Taleti and Ambaji has been started from Oct 2020. Being 2.3 km long, this is Asia’s second longest ropeway(first is gentind Highland Melesiya.). The cost of constructing this ropeway is projected to be Rs 130 crore.
The ropeway uses mono-cable cabin detachable lifts, commonly known as cable cars. Between Bhavnath Taleti and Ambaji Temple, nine towers have been set up. The cable cars can carry 7-8 passengers, around 25 cable cars can operate simultaneously. In one hour, approx 800 devotees can reach Ambaji, and over 8000 devotees can visit in a day.
From Bhavnath Taleti, visitors can reach the Girnar Ambaji temple, about 2,800 feet above sea level. The Girnar ropeway takes around 7-8 minutes to get to the Ambaji Temple.
During that 7-8 mins, it provides a magnificent aerial view of the lush green scenery surrounding the mountain, as well as Sudarshan Lake, Jain Temples, Willingdon Dam, Datar Hill Junagadh city, and other nearby attractions. It offers a serene and pleasant experience of total silence of deep forests, where there is no human noise.
It used to take 6-7 hours to reach Girnar Ambaji Temple after climbing 5000 stairs, but now it just takes only 7-8 minutes. As a result, more tourists and pilgrims will visit Junagadh, contributing to Junagadh’s current tourism and employment opportunities for locals.
